15. DRAINING WORKS

Draining interventions remove and collect  surface and underground waters near unstable slopes, in order to prevent the increase of interstitial pressures.

SURFACE DRAINING WORKS
- Surface small ditches remove from landslide areas the surface waters especially the stagnant waters, within the depression created by the instability.
- Safety high-water ditches are covered with reinforced concrete and they are placed upriver of the detached cavity so to collect the superficial upriver waters.
- Interceptive drains are built upriver of the detached cavity and downriver of the safety high-water ditch in order to collect waters infiltrated in the covering ground.
- Block and sealing interventions are carried out with compressed clay injected into soil cracks.

DEEP DRAINING WORKS
- Draining ditches
- Sub-horizontal draining pipes
- Draining galleries
- Draining wells
- Draining and load-bearing spurs
